Microsoft’s Mass Layoffs Hit 343 Industries Which Will No Longer Make Halo Games, But Will Only Oversee Outside Development

As per the latest report, Halo developer 343 Industries is being taken off of active development of the franchise and new games in the series will be created by third-party studios, but the good news is that they will still continue to take on a parental role for Halo, overseeing new games and content while working on maintaining the game’s engine.

Also, veteran developer Joseph Staten has also reportedly exited the studio and will rejoin Xbox Publishing.

This is as per the information shared by Halo leaker Bathrobe Spartan, who has a solid track record for leaking inside information.

But, official confirmation is still awaited.

Director Casey Hudson’s Wait Is Finally Over After 16 Years – Mass Effect’s Top Gun Easter Egg Has Been Discovered

Former Mass Effect director Casey Hudson was waiting for a long time for someone to notice this eater egg.

Miss Snizzabelle, one of the Mass Effect fan commented over twitter on how similar the Mass Effect design is to the opening spread of text from Top Gun, the 1986 film that starred Tom Cruise as the hotshot fighter jet pilot.

But looks like this was no coincidence, as former Mass Effect director and current CEO of Humanoid Studios Casey Hudson confirmed the link and tweeted – “Finally someone noticed this! I’ve been waiting so long.”

Microsoft Is Now Scaling Back – Lays Off 10,000 People

In the latest round of layoff, Microsoft has cut down more then10,000 employees, which amounts to less than 5% of the company’s total workforce of more than 220,000. This layoff will start from today and will go on till the third quarter of fiscal year 2023. This move will affect both Xbox and Bethesda and also Microsoft’s wider teams at large.

According to The New York Times, Microsoft hired more than 75,000 people since 2019 to help meet demand for the growing interest in online services and cloud computing due to the onset of the pandemic.

This was not the first layoff as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had earlier eliminated around 25,000 jobs between 2014 and 2015 as a result of abandoning the company’s Nokia business.

A New Bluetooth Update in Stadia Controller Will Allow You To Use it Even After Stadia is Gone

Google has finally shut down Stadia, but as a parting gift to its users the company has rolled out a new support tool that allows owners of the Stadia Controller to use it as a Bluetooth controller.

Once the tool is installed, it will deactivate the proprietary Wi-Fi connection previously on the Stadia Controller and allow you to connect to devices that support Bluetooth Low Energy.

However this offer is available for a short time only. Stadia Controller users will have time until December 31, 2023, to update the controller so it can use Bluetooth mode.

The Last Of Us Season 1 Premiere Takes The Cake As HBO’s Second-Biggest Debut Since 2010

The Last Of Us, HBO’s newest show, had a big series premiere. HBO announced today that the first episode picked up 4.7 million viewers on Sunday night. This counts viewers across traditional linear TV and via HBO Max platforms for Sunday night alone.

With 4.7 million viewers, The Last of Us is HBO’s second largest debut since 2010, only behind the Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon (9.98 million) in that time.

New episodes of HBO’s The Last of Us air Sunday nights at 9 PM ET, running up to the Season 1 finale on March 12.
