Robert Downey Jr. Takes On Four Distinct Roles in HBO’s Action-Packed Trailer for THE SYMPATHIZER

HBO has released an exciting and captivating trailer for their upcoming limited series, The Sympathizer. Based on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, the show is executive produced by Robert Downey Jr. and features his portrayal of four different characters, as well as a talented cast including Hoa Xuande, Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Ky Duyen, and Sandra Oh. The series is a cross-cultural satire and espionage thriller that follows the story of a communist spy of mixed French-Vietnamese descent during the final days of the Vietnam War. After the fall of Saigon, the spy is forced into exile in the United States, where he continues his dangerous work.

The showrunners, Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar, co-wrote and executive produced the series, with Chan-wook directing the first three episodes.
