Google’s Pixel Phones Experience Crashes from Playing Specific YouTube Video

According to Android Authority, a particular YouTube video that we have shared above is causing Pixel phones to crash. Watching the video causes affected phones to instantly reboot, and some users have reported experiencing subsequent cellular network issues. While Android Authority noted that these issues were resolved after another reboot, the problem persists for some.

Numerous Pixel models are affected, including the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6A, and at least one Verge staffer’s Pixel 6 crashed when attempting to watch the video. However, not all Pixel owners are affected; some can watch the video without any issues. Android expert Mishaal Rahman, for instance, reported that the video did not crash his Pixel 6 Pro.

This problematic video is a two-year-old 4K HDR scene from the sci-fi horror movie Alien, has a link available. Still, users with potentially affected phones should avoid watching it. Google has not commented on what is causing the issue, but some believe it may be related to how Pixels handle color, as a particular wallpaper previously caused crashes on some Android phones.
